Remote medication monitoring
Ensuring that medicines and care resources are used more effectively
PAMAN Monitors check that patients are taking their medication at the correct time, with the correct dose, at the correct location on the body.
The Monitors record the administration of the medicine – time, day, date and, for injections, patches, or creams, location on the body. They also record patient feedback.
The Monitors will offer advise when asked or when appropriate to open a dialogue. All advice ‘sessions’ content and duration are recorded.
The Monitors will either respond to the patient initiating discussion on medication side-effects, or will, on the request of a clinician, ask the patient for feedback on any side-effects of the medication.
Troubleshooting medication issues as they arise is key to ensuring the service level is maintained at the highest possible level.
The measurement of key performance activity is important in being able to quantify service outcomes.
Being able to review and comment on patient progress is based on observational recording of activity.
The report prepared for each patient provides evidence of the number of parameters that are monitored to ensure successful patient outcomes.
We manage all aspects of medicines use for your patients, reducing risks and costs and freeing up home carer capacity.
Since starting this service in 2019, we have supported over 500 patients for Liverpool and Knowsley councils.
Most carers are under time pressure when giving patients their medicines and most are not qualified or experienced to do so safely. The council will have a liability if there is an adverse event.
Most councils use home carers to help patients take their medicines.
The cost of a home carer averages at over £21 per hour.
Every home carer used just for medication increases the pressure on local authorities and make it more difficult to meet the needs of people who need actual hands-on support .

Patients who aren’t in our area (NW England) receive their equipment by post. We call the patient to make sure they can set it up, and then we talk them through our processes. Some patients take to it straight away and others need additional support.
We work to SOPs and our calls to patients are recorded. We constantly review the performance of our team to make sure they are clinically competent, but also that they are able to engage with the patients.
When a patient is taken on, we need to know what other medication they are taking so we can make sure they’re taking all the right medicines, and check for interactions or potential side effects.
Our core service involves regular video contact with patients, but how we use that contact varies according to the needs of our clients. We work with you to agree details, required outcomes, and KPIs. Most services provide daily and ongoing contact with patients, others are fixed-term support or on-line training.
Our services can be delivered at the scale you need and put in place quickly.
“The calls are really helping, she’s taking her meds and insulin on calls means she has not missed a dose or taken them twice.. blood sugars better than they were before she started with PAMAN and she feels better, plus enjoys a little chat”
“I was a bit sporadic with my meds, either not enough or too much, and a couple of times in A&E when I’d taken too many. I’d highly recommend the service. It’s enabled me to take my medication at the right time, both morning and night. I feel so much better, I’ve really felt the benefit.”
