Supporting NL with Mental Health and Daily Living Needs
PAMAN medication monitoring helps to achieve the best health outcomes for our Service Users.
Daily interaction
NL has a history of poor mental health and often feels lonely and anxious, despite being friendly and chatty. She benefits greatly from daily interaction with the PAMAN team and appreciates the support provided. Her main family support is her daughter who has recently had a baby, so NL spends time with her when possible.
NL experiences high levels of anxiety, especially at night, which leaves her feeling isolated. While she expresses interest in joining social clubs, her acrophobia and anxiety make it difficult for her to take that step. PAMAN monitors have connected her with befriending services, including Silverline and Bootle Buddies, and with our encouragement she has attended Bootle Buddies.
Overcoming challenges
Recently, NL’s increased anxiety, coupled with her memory issues that have posed risks, led PAMAN to reach out to her GP. The GP has arranged a memory assessment and referred her to a volunteer service that will assist with her shopping needs, providing further support.
NL also struggles with maintaining a balanced diet, often only eating toast for days. She fears experiencing another hypoglycaemic episode, which has left her shaky and dizzy in the past. To support her, PAMAN has offered daily blood glucose monitoring and has requested a new blood sugar monitor and test strips. They also encourage her to prepare more varied meals.
Improving Quality of Life
Through ongoing support, the PAMAN team helps NL manage her health and feel more connected. This regular interaction and assistance have positively impacted NL’s quality of life, reducing her isolation and helping her manage her mental and physical health.
